Why a CE
Why would a Landowner want to grant a CE?
Typically, a landowner restricts their land with a CE in order to permanently preserve the land in
its natural state for their own use and enjoyment and to be sure that the land is permanently
protected forever. In addition, Landowners who donate a CE may be eligible for a federal
income tax deduction and estate tax benefits. Some states also provide for state tax credits for
land preservation, and preserved land typically qualifies for lowered property taxes.
